Feb 11th, 2015: Wayne Biggs who was diagnosed with Lymphoma and is told he had months to live is riding across South Island, New Zealand in a noble and brave gesture. The ride, aptly named ‘Tiny Wheels for a Giant Cause’, aims to increase awareness and raise money for Leukaemia and Blood Cancer in New Zealand.

This father of two boys in his orange T-shirt and orange Vespa  GTS reached Walter Peak, Otago yesterday.

Michael Huddleston a friend who started with Biggs on the trip had to drop off due to an unfortunate accident.

The Vespa that 'El Lute' stole in Leon
The Vespa that ‘El Flute’ stole in Leon to flee from the Civil Guard in 1966 is on display in the ‘60 years of Vespa in Asturias’ exhibition in Gijonés, Asturias.

Jun 18, 2014: The ‘60 years of Vespa in Asturias’ exhibition has opened in the courtyard of Antigio institute in Asturias, Spain. The exhibition which is supported by the Vespa Club Asturias will be open till July 1st. Along with scooters spanning six decades, 300 old photographs are displayed in the exhibition.

The highlight of the exhibition is the Vespa scooter which was stolen by Eleuterio Sánchez Rodríguez, known as ‘El Lute’, in León while escaping from the Coast Guard in 1966 to Salamanca. The Vespa 946 and the Vespa used by Francisco Roves and Francisco Alonso Oviedo to travel to Belgium are on display.

On Jun 21st, Vespaniada IX, will be conducted at Gijón. Over 300 scooters have already confirmed their participation in the ride.

Mar 22, 2014: June 1st, the last day of the Breda Jazz Festival will mark the inauguration of the Vespa Day. This follows the highly successful Harley Day from last year. Chris Brouwers, the chief organizer, explains that ‘it is not a snook at the Harley Day’. The event is being organised at Ginnekenweg where the Gusti Factory runs. Only Vespa scooters will be allowed in the property!

Oct 14, 2013: Vespa fans gathered at the banks of Neva to celebrate their love for the venerable scooter. A rally was organised around the city. Alexey Bulkin, the president of the St Petersburg Vespa Club, was also present. He had received an honorary award for attending the Vespa World Days 2013 from the farthest place.

Oct 05, 2013: The Route Subbetic was organised by Vespa Club Lucena and the City of Lucena. Around 400 riders are gathering for 100km ride organised through the Sierras Subbéticas National Park.

After a gap of 12 years, the Vespa Club of Mouscron, Belgium is reborn! The Vespa Scooter Club was founded in 1995 and had a very active and vibrant presence in Mouscron. However with the accidental death of its club members the Vespa Scooter Club ceased in 2001. In its heydays the club had organised annual rally with around 250 participants from as far as United Kingdom and Holland.

The Vespa Scooter Club was revived in March and has already participated in the Euro Vespa in Hasselt, Amsterdam Rally and Moto Legende in Dijon.

The annual membership fee is 20 Euros. Meetings are held every first Friday of the month, alternated between the clubs – Martino and Brind’Zinc.

Mersea Island hosts scooter rally

The annual scooter rally of Mersea island was organised on 3ed September. The Colchester District Vespa and Lambretta Scooter Club jointly organised the event.

Vespa Rally from Varese to Cunard

The Vespa Club Verese has organised a Vespa rally from Varese to Cunard on 8th September 2013. The registration will start at 8:30 in the former shoe factory of Varese. The ride will start at 11:15 am and will end with a lunch at 13:00 at Cunard.

Vespa at Piazza Garibaldi

One hundred and fifty Vespa gathered at Piazza Garibaldi for the Vespa rally organised by the Vespa Club of Parma Moletolo on 1st September. The club was represented by President Daniel Galvani, Vice President Giancarlo Ferri and the secretary Maurizio Rosi. The rally started from the square and continued to Montechiarugolo and Montecchio Traversetolo.
